Chito-BRK

Advancing Functional Gradients for Architectural Design

Chito-BRK is an ongoing exploration of functionally graded materials (FGMs), focusing on developing seamless transitions in material properties for architectural applications. Drawing inspiration from nature, such as the squid beak's stiffness gradient, the project leverages robotic extrusion and biocatalysts to fabricate gradient transparency and stiffness within lightweight biopolymers like ChitoDX. By addressing scalability and environmental sustainability, this research envisions innovative, multifunctional designs that merge biological principles with advanced manufacturing techniques to redefine architectural possibilities.
